Use Recommendations

Dilute to 10% with potable water on most surfaces that are not harmed by water alone. Recommended to discard of made up solutions within 30 days of diluting. Store product in original container in an upright position, in a cool environment out of direct sunlight.

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic the Australian Government excluded specific WHO and FDA hand sanitising formulations from therapeutic registration for use in Healthcare network.

Ethanol 80% is based on hand rub formulation of the WHO and is thus fit for use as an antiseptic hand rub sanitiser in all Healthcare settings such as Hospitals, Doctors Surgeries and Aged care facilities

Ethanol 80% is also suitable for use in domestic and commercial settings where soap and water are not readily available. This product may also find use as a hard surface sanitiser providing it is used in well ventilated area free from sources of ignition, trafficable surfaces affected by alcohol.

Always check to see the alcohol content of your sanitiser and demand minimum of 70%v/v or above but better yet the 80%v/v!

PEROXY ACETIC ACID is formulated to be used on pre-cleaned surfaces that contain no detergents or surfactants.  The products performance will be dramatically reduced if soils are present on the surface such as fats, oil, starches or vegetable matter.

Peroxyacetic acid sanitation is most efficient at pH’s below 7. The pH of a 1: 100 dilution of this product is about 3.0 and a 1: 500 dilution about ph 4.0. Temperature plays a factor in effectiveness of this product, for example at a temperature of 15°C and a pH value of 7, five times more peractetic acid is required to effectively deactivate pathogens than at a pH value of 7 and a temperature of 35°C.

Therefore working solutions should be ambient to warm (25 to 40°C). Exact dilution rates are determined on a case by case basis and Able Westchem does not normally determine what rate suits its customers requirements.

To achieve 200 ppm (maximum allowable by AQIS) add 4ml to 1 litre of warm water. The following table summarizes the approximate ppm for a given dilution.

Surfaces to be sanitised should be cleaned and rinsed thoroughly before applying QUAT.

QUAT should be diluted at 1 ml per litre of water. Apply via the dispensers provided to ensure all surfaces are sanitised at the completion of each day’s trading. Leave overnight to dry.

Hard, non-porous food contact surfaces, such as equipment and utensils, may be used following sanitation without a potable water rinse provided that QUAT is used according to directions and the surfaces are drained and dry prior to any food contact.

Dilute solutions of QUAT are practically non-hazardous, however repeated or prolonged contact with skin and eyes, and inhalation of spray mists should be avoided.

FOOD AREA USE

• Concentrations are regulated; use Q-SAN at rate of 50 ml per litre (5% v/v) of water via mister or trigger spray.
• After 5 minutes of contact time between Q-SAN and the surface the surface will then be considered as being “sanitised” and no further surface preparation is generally required.
• Hard, non-porous food contact surfaces, such as equipment and utensils, may be used following sanitation without a potable water rinse provided that Q-SAN is used at 5%v/v strictly according to directions, and the surfaces are drained and dry prior to any food contact.
• When used in FOOD AREAS it is recommended to discard diluted solutions after each day and make fresh solution daily.

NON FOOD AREAS such as commercial and domestic use

• For a high level of sanitation apply Q-SAN at rate 50 ml per litre (5%v/v) with potable water via trigger spray to a pre-cleaned surface.
• For low risk areas use as little as 1 part to 200 parts of water for a kill of 99.9% of germs and bugs within 1 minute.
• Allow the wetted surface to air dry or wipe dry with clean cloth.
• The surface will be considered sanitised after 1 minute.
• For domestic & commercial use there is no requirement to discard made-up solutions but we recommend unused solutions be discarded after 3 months when stored as per Section 7 of the SDS.

Q-SAN is non-hazardous according to NOHSC criteria. Avoid unnecessary contact with skin and eyes. Do not drink.

WESTGUARD contains biodegradable surfactant/s as well as a high level of active sanitation that is afforded by Alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride.  WESTGUARD is also accepted by the Australian Commonwealth Department of Primary Industry as a detergent/ sanitiser for use in meat export establishments.

WESTGUARD is designed as an economical product that can be used on floors, walls, ceilings, foot dips and equipment. WESTGUARD is ideal for use in many industries that include; Marine, Dairy, Poultry, Primary Production, Cold Storage, Meat Processing, Hospitality and Food Preparation.

WESTGUARD is effective in hard or soft water and works well in both cold and hot water. The use of hot water will increase the effectiveness of the surfactant/s by orders of magnitude (generally as hot as the hand can stand). Spray, mop, swab, or soak surfaces. Note: the greater the contact time with surfaces the greater the “kill.”

Rinsing is not normally necessary apart from when a surface is particularly greasy, is going to be polished or when used in a food processing area (i.e. product contains surfactant/s that may foam and taste bitter).

Treated surfaces in food prep and processing areas should be rinsed with clean water. Heavy soiling 1:10 (100ml per Litre) with water Light to Medium Soiling 1:50 (20mls per Litre) with water.
