Acid Inhibitor 396

ACID INHIBITOR 396 is a highly effective corrosion inhibitor for acid cleaning solutions. For industrial use only. Use strictly in accordance with Able technical advice. Acid inhibitors are used in industrial cleaning solutions to reduce attack on sound metal, minimise pitting and hydrogen evolution, and extend equipment life while rust, scale and other deposits are dissolved.

Use Recommendations

Typical dosage rate: 0.5–1.0 % v/v of the total acid solution.

Effective in hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, ammonium bifluoride solutions, citric acid, phosphoric acid, sulfamic acid, oxalic acid, acetic acid, formic acid, sulphuric acid and many other compatible mineral and organic acids (not recommended for use in strongly oxidising acids such as nitric or chromic acid).

Users must carry out their own inhibitor efficacy tests under actual operating conditions to determine safe acid cleaning and descaling procedure. This inhibitor is generally stable in acid cleaning solutions up to 100 °C and forms a protective film on most metal surfaces while allowing existing rust deposits to be dissolved. Inhibited solutions can become exhausted in acid cleaning baths as inhibitor is carried out of the solution on metals and top dosing is recommended into bath. In-use solutions of Able Acid Inhibitor 396 at recommended use rates are nonhazardous, this is not to say that the acid solution will be non-hazardous only the inhibitor component.
